During the summer months, BHSN will be revisiting some of our best Athletes of the Week from the 2014-2015 school season to catch up on what’s new.

Back in September, we introduced you to Sierra Brooks, a junior golfer for Lake Mary Prep, who just won the Central Florida Tournament of Champions. In a few days she would head overseas to Scotland to play in the Junior Ryder Cup for the United States National Team. While in Scotland, Team USA went viral for their dance moves but Sierra's play on the links did a lot of talking as well.

"That was one of the best moments of my life I’d have to say, I birdied 6 out of the last 7 holes and I played with a girl," said Sierra, "She’s an amazing player, it was a really competitive match, and I was the first one out, so to be able to put the first points on the board it just meant so much."

A month later Sierra meant a lot to the Lake Mary Prep girls golf team leading the Griffins to their first ever state championship all while winning the individual title by 4 strokes. She was the only golfer to finish under par.

"We’ve come so close to getting the team title for a couple years, and I’ve been runner up twice before as well, so just to be able to gain the win individually and as a team it just meant so much."
