The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed free agent right wing Erik Condra to a three-year contract today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.
Condra, 6-foot, 190 pounds, played in 68 games with the Ottawa Senators last season, recording nine goals, a career high, and 23 points. He also set a career high with a plus-13 rating and ranked third among Ottawa forwards. Condra was the Senators’ most-used forward on the penalty kill, averaging 2:13 per game in 2014-15. He was also tied for the lead among team forwards for blocked shots with 53. Condra played in six Stanley Cup Playoff games with Ottawa and recorded one goal.
A native of Trenton, Michigan, Condra has played in 299 career NHL games, all with Ottawa, recording 33 goals and 87 points, with a career plus-26 rating. He has skated for Ottawa during the playoffs on three occasions, playing in a total of 23 games and amassing three goals with nine points.
Prior to joining the professional ranks Condra played in 159 games with the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish. During his college career he registered 48 goals and 158 points. Condra was named to the CCHA Second All-Star Team and to the NCCA West Second All-American Team in 2009 after finishing his collegiate career. He was also named to the CCHA All-Rookie Team in 2006 after posting six goals and 34 points in 36 games.
Condra played for Lightning head coach Jon Cooper with the Texarkana Bandits of the NAHL during the 2003-04 season.
He was drafted by Ottawa in the seventh round, 211th overall, of the 2006 NHL Draft.
