Football players from several local high schools got the chance to meet NFL stars this weekend at the third annual Drew Brees Passing Academy and 7-on-7 tournament at ESPN Wide World of Sports.

In addition to Drew Brees, fellow Saints teammate Mark Ingram was in attendance as well as Arizona Cardinals Larry Fitzgerald and Patrick Peterson. Peterson joked about his attendance, “When one of the greatest of all times asks you to do something you just drop it and make it happen.”

The opportunity was huge for players like Ben Russo who are looking for a leg up on the competition. “It’s pretty exciting just to hear what the pros have to say and give us tips on what to do in the games and just to show out on all these other guys,” said the junior wide receiver from Poinciana High School.

Carlos Becker is a cornerback for Osceola High School. “It is pretty amazing getting their advice, getting one-on-ones with these great athletes and get better,” said Becker.

Drew Brees explained his goal in holding the camp, “What I try to do is with each and every quarterback out there today, try to touch every kid. You have the opportunity to put eyes on every kid and just give them one little coaching point that you feel like can help their game.”
