UCF men’s basketball head coach Donnie Jones announced Monday that the Knights will play a trio of international games on a foreign tour in the Bahamas this summer. The Knights will leave August 8 and play games on August 9, 11 and 12 before returning to Florida on August 13.

UCF will play their first two games of the trip against the Real Deal Shockers and the Patron Regulators of the New Providence Basketball Association. The Regulators advanced to the Bahamian professional league’s championship series last year. The Knights will conclude the three-game run against IBA Elite.

“We are excited to take this trip to the Bahamas in August,” said Jones, who will begins his sixth season with the Knights. “It is a great opportunity for our young team to learn and bond with each other before the school year. The competition will be great, but team building and having fun will also be very important for us on this trip.”

All three games will be played at the Kendal Isaacs National Gymnasium in Nassau. It is the primary venue for basketball games in New Providence and will host over 30 games featuring as many as 13 collegiate teams during the month of August.

The last time UCF made a trip to the Bahamas was in the fall of 2011 when the Knights took part in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. That November UCF opened up with a win over College of Charleston before upsetting No. 4 and defending national champion UConn, 68-63 to advance to the finals. The Knights eventually fell to Harvard (featuring current UCF assistant coach Christian Webster) in the championship game.

Newcomers Tacko Fall, Tanksley Efianayi, Chad Brown and Chance McSpadden, along with last year’s redshirts Matt Williams and A.J. Davis will join the group as UCF prepares for the 2015-16 campaign in the Bahamas.
