2015 FHSAA Tennis State Championships

When: Monday through Friday

Where: Sanlando Park, Altamonte Springs (Class 3A and 4A); Red Bug Lake Park, Casselberry (Class 1A and 2A team competition); Sylvan Lake Park, Sanford (Class 1A and 2A individual competition)

Schedule: Class 1A and 3A – Monday through Wednesday. Team singles finals begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, followed by team doubles semifinals and finals, individual singles finals, and individual doubles semifinals and finals.

Class 2A and 4A – Wednesday through Friday. Team singles finals begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, followed by team doubles semifinals and finals, individual singles finals, and individual doubles semifinals and finals.

Local teams competing: Class 4A boys – Lake Mary, Olympia, Winter Park and girls – Countryside, Olympia, Winter Park; Class 3A boys – King, Wiregrass Ranch and girls – Lakeland, Lakewood Ranch, Lecanto; Class 2A boys – Jesuit, Pasco and girls – Academy of the Holy Names, Hernando, Lake Highland Prep; Class 1A boys – Berkeley Prep, Father Lopez, St. Stephen’s and girls – Carrollwood Day School, St. Stephen’s, Windmere Prep.

Fun facts: Defending state boys champs Wiregrass Ranch advanced to its third-straight state tournament with a 4-2 win vs. Sarasota. The Bulls haven’t dropped a match since 2012; Countryside girls defeated Plant, 4-1, to become the first 4A Pinellas County team to advance to state in 10 years. The undefeated Cougars are 17-0.

Jesuit advanced to its fifth-straight state tourney; The King boys swept Lakeland in the regional finals to earn a fourth-straight trip to state; Academy of the Holy Names will be wearing special uniforms with the initials S.W. on them to honor former teammate Sydney Wynne, who passed away on Christmas morning following a battle with liver cancer.

Pasco’s boys team made history, advancing to state for the first time in school history; Five-year-old Carrollwood Day School is heading to state for the third time.
