Montverde Academy's Ben Simmons is piling up the accolades. On Tuesday, the Australian transplant was named the Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the year during a presentation ceremony in front of his classmates. This award comes in addition to the 2015 Morgan Wootten Award, the Naismith Trophy Boys Basketball Player of the Year, and is a selection for the 2015 McDonald's All-American Game.

The 6'10 senior averaged 28 points and 11.9 rebounds through his senior year, leading the Eagles to the Dick's Sporting Goods National High School Tournament, with a chance to win their third straight title. Simmons is the nation's No. 1 recruit in the 2015 class, and is committed to play basketball at LSU next season.

Simmons is now a finalist for the Gatorade Male High School Athlete of the Year Award.
