West Orange jumped out to an early lead on Apopka and captured a 10-2 victory on Tuesday at West Orange HS.

The game was decided quickly as the Warriors exerted its will early with seven runs in the first three innings.

An RBI double by Amanda Nikhazy was followed by RBI singles by Sam Gordon and Jade Caraway gave the Warriors the lead after Apopka put two runs on the board in the first inning.

Caraway was solid at the plate for West Orange going 3-5, driving in one and scoring one run.

The Warriors got the win thanks in large part to Lauren Mathis's dominant, 10-strikeout performance. The BHSN Player of the Game gave up just two hits over five shutout innings.

Alexina Mora ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She allowed 10 runs in five innings, walked one and struck out three.

The top of the first saw Apopka take an early lead, 2-0. Cassidy Brewer singles to ignite Apopka's offense, before Faith Musselwhite singled, plating Brewer. Apopka then tacked on more runs when Nunez scored on an RBI single by Emma Miller.

West Orange increased its lead with four runs in the third. Alex Paulson's double got things going, scoring Kelsey Morrison. That was followed up by Sam Golden's double, plating Kori Peterson and Paulson.

West Orange improves to 16-1 on the season while Apopka falls to 12-4.
