The UCF women’s basketball team will recognize its senior class this Saturday afternoon in its final home game of the year. The Knights have saved arguable their best matchup for last, taking on their longtime arch rival USF at 4 p.m. on ESPN3.

The first 300 UCF students to attend will receive a free hooded Knight T Shirt.

As the end of the season approaches, the senior class took some time to reflect on their time spent with the Black and Gold.

What will you remember most about your time spent as a Knight?
Brittni Montgomery: “I will always remember the family atmosphere most. We really take being a family into mind and I have love and a special place in my heart for all of them, always.”

Stephanie Taylor: “I will remember all the moments spent with my teammates, both on and off the court. From the tough times (getting in to shape) and fun times (like laughing at the facial expressions and body language of some while getting in shape or because someone tripped) during practice and going to team events. For example the wheel chair basketball games at community service or just recently going to Dave and Busters, feeling like a kid again.”

Yanique Gordon: “The thing I will remember most about being a Knight is the relationships I have created with my teammates.”

Bryeasha Blair: “What I will remember most as a Knight are the bonds and memories that I have with all my teammates.”

What is the biggest lesson you learned?
Brittni Montgomery: “The biggest lesson that I have learned is that no matter how hard things may seem, you have to continue to stay strong. I have learned this even more so this year after stepping into the leadership/captain role because you will be faced with different hardships, and as a leader, you are looked to for guidance. I have learned how to handle those situations.”

Stephanie Taylor: “The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to never be afraid. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes because as long as you give your all, that is all what you can do. Don’t be afraid of what the future holds either. Before just about every game, Coach Joi says, ‘You can either have faith or you can have fear. Faith that you will be okay giving your all and through practice and experience, even if you make mistakes, and your outcome will be success; or fear that you will make mistakes and be scared to do anything.’”

Yanique Gordon: “The biggest lesson I had to learn was learning how to time manage--being a student athlete forces you to organize your time.”

Andrea Hines: “My biggest lesson learned was to do well in my academics so I have something to fall back on after basketball is over. And to stay focused and don't let anyone influence my decisions.”

Bryeasha Blair: “The biggest lesson that I have learned is to take advantage of what you have because it could be gone before you know it.”

What are you most proud of about your collegiate career?
Brittni Montgomery: “I am most proud of the progress that I made year by year and the accomplishments that I have made with my rebounding and improving on the scoring end to help my team.”

Stephanie Taylor: “What I am honestly most proud of about my colligate career is making it through the end with no regrets. Yes, there are times I could have changed what I did or choices I’ve made, but if I had not made those exact choices, I wouldn’t have anything to learn from and may make those same mistakes in the future. So I am proud to say I came a long way and never gave up, I pushed through to the very end.”

Yanique Gordon: “I am most proud of being able to start for a Division I program.”

Andrea Hines: “I am most proud of my assists, of finishing among the program’s top career leaders.”

Bryeasha Blair: “I am most proud about being able to learn life lessons through a sport I love playing. Basketball has taught me so much about life and myself and I am appreciative of that.”

What would like to say to your teammates about your time spent together?
Brittni Montgomery: “I love all of you and I would do anything for you. All the relationships that we built throughout the years have been great. I wish you all the best of luck in the future, and I am going to miss you all and just know that if you ever need anything, I am there.”

Stephanie Taylor: “I want to tell them how much I will miss them. These memories will forever be with me, and that’s saying a lot because they know that ‘my memory is bad.’ Also, I want to tell them that whatever adversity they are going through, to find something, anything, that they can revert back to that makes them happy. I want them to always have that one thing they can fall back on that would put a smile on their faces. And lastly, I want them to remember that they are playing basketball, doing what they love, so have fun.”

Yanique Gordon: “I wish you all the best luck, success, and happiness in your future endeavors.”

Bryeasha Blair: “To my teammates, I love you guys. I wish you all the best luck in our futures together. And as always, I'm here if you need me.”
