In the team’s first ever-final four appearance Agape Christian knocked out Academy of the Lakes in the 2A state semifinal, 57-36.

The Mighty Saints were able to contain Wildcats all time leading scorer Ethan Haslam to just 9 points, shooting 1-for-13 from the field to extend their winning streak to 16.

“[Stopping Haslem] was a turning point for us,” coach Victor Floyd said. “We really had to guard him and keep a hand in his face to shut him down.”

Agape controlled the game from the start jumping out on a 10-2 run with two back-to-back threes courtesy Michael Brannum.

ATTL strung together a few stops and Mikey Mauger’s jumper brought the game within three before the half.

The rest of the way Agape outscored the Wildcats, 31-17.

Brannum led the offensive attack for Agape, netting 19 points while both Willie Dennison and Darrion Flucker added 10 points and combined for 20 boards.

Wildcats Mauger finished with a team high 10 points.

Agape Christian will advance to the Class 2A Championship game against the winner of Miami Christian and Sarasota Wednesday night at 8:35. The game will be televised live on BHSN CH47/HD1147 and on BHSNLive.com.
