Saturday was the final day of the 2015 Pinch-a-Penny Swimming & Diving State Championships, with several local 4A winners.

Plant sophomore Morgan Tankersley swam the fastest time in the 200 yard freestyle, an automatic All-American time of 1:47.54

Tankersley rounded out her night by also taking 2nd in the 500 free, as well as swimming a leg of both the 2nd place 200 free relay and 3rd place 200 medley relay.

 Another sophomore also taking gold was Katie Vasiloff of Durant. Vasiloff swam the automatic All-American time in the 100 fly, defending last year’s title. The Durant swimmer also took 2nd in the 50 free.

Seminole High School took to the podium several times on the night, taking 3rd in the 200 free relay and 3rd in the 200 medley relay. Previous Athlete of the Week Maverick Layne also took 2nd in the 100 free and 3rd in the 50 free.

But it was Countryside High School that impressed the most on the boys side. The relay teams took 2nd in both the 200 medley and 400 free. Senior Noah Lense also took 1st in the 100 butterfly, swimming a 48.18.

Countryside came in 2nd in the boys team title.

 

Other notable finishes:

-Isabella English of Winter Park came in just seconds ahead of the competition to take 1st in the 100 breaststroke.

-Dan Erlenmeyer of Lakewood Ranch took two silvers in the 200 and 500 free.

-Olympia’s Maka Robilliard finished 2nd in the diving competition with a 491.55.

-Plant High School took 2nd and 3rd in the diving competition, Dylan Power with 523, max Jenkins with 503.
