Wednesday night’s BHSN Game of the Week featured two up and coming Brevard County programs looking to make a jump into the BHSN Top 10 rankings as the Rockledge Raiders traveled to Melbourne to take on the Viera Hawks.

The Raiders and Hawks split the first two sets with identical 25-22 scores before Rockledge took control of the third set on the arm of senior Outside Hitter Rasheena Mansel who led the Raiders with 18 kills on the night.

Viera reclaimed momentum in the fourth set easily defeating the Raiders 25-12, as junior Middle Blocker Cailea Gibbs dominated the net with 5 kills and 3 blocks in the set. Gibbs finished the night with 16 kills and 9 blocks.

Viera earned the first point of the fifth set but the Raiders went on a 15-2 run handing the Hawks their first loss of the season in a raucous rivalry match, 3-2. Rockledge moves to 4-0 on the season and will host Melbourne Central Catholic next Monday. The Viera Hawks fall to 3-1 and will head to Sebastian River for a district match tomorrow.
