How they match up: Lake Nona travels to St. Cloud to face Harmony in a rematch of the Class 7A, District 5 season opener. Coming off their best season in school history, the undefeated Lions have carried that momentum into their fall campaign. Lake Nona, who took down the reigning 8A state champs Winter Park in straight sets, is currently ranked 8th in our BHSN Girls Volleyball Rankings. Junior outside hitter Mikayla Shields and senior middle blocker Gabriela Martin, who committed to FAU, lead the way for the Lions. Shields, who committed to South Carolina over the weekend, leads the team in kills with 87. Harmony is under new leadership with first year head coach Jeannie Clark. The Longhorns are the only team to win a set against Lake Nona this season. Senior libero Alexis Trowbridge has been a versatile and consistent player for the program, while freshman right side Haylie Clark leads the attack. She has tallied a team-high 48 kills. It’s the second consecutive season these teams are meeting on Bright House Sports Network. Last year, Lake Nona defeated Harmony for its first ever district title.

Three facts to know:

1.  Lake Nona reached the region finals for the first time in school history last season.

2.  Harmony won four consecutive district championships (2009-‘12)

3.  Former Harmony standout Genesis Viera is the starting setter for the FAU Owls. She has tallied 499 assists this season.
