Armwood defensive end Byron Cowart, the nation's No. 1 strong-side defensive end, will not be making his announcement on September 28, as originally planned, he informed Bright House Sports Network.

"I kind of pushed it back, actually, to I think the Under Armour Game," Cowart said on Friday following his team's 26-0 win over Hillsborough. "But, I mean, who knows."

Cowart, a five-star prospect, took an official visit to Maryland on Sept. 12, one weekend after unofficially visiting Florida. The Gators, Terrapins, Florida State, Alabama and Oregon are Cowart's five finalists.

"I just want to see how these teams develop," Cowart said. "You know, the stability in the coaching staff throughout the teams that I'm interested in. We'll see. I want to wait it out."

Cowart hopes that in delaying his announcement, he will bring more attention to his teammates' recruitment.

"It's fun, especially when I have my guys playing around me like they do. Now, they're getting looked at. Now I can say, well coach, I didn't have a good half, but my boy Jeremy (Ware), he held it down for me and I was able to turn it up the second half."

The Under Armour All-America game will be held in early January at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL.
