The top high school football teams in Central Florida, as selected by the Bright House Sports Network staff:

1. Mainland (12-0) – Bucs fell behind Edgewater 21-0 and got a safety in the final minute to squeak past the Eagles 30-28 in the 6A region semifinals.

2. Dr. Phillips (12-0) – Suffocating defense carried the Panthers past Tampa Plant 24-10 and into Friday’s 8A region final against Bradenton Manatee on BHSN.

3. Cocoa (11-1) – A 26-21 win against Clewiston means the Tigers will face Miami Booker T. Washington in the 4A semifinals for the fourth straight year.

4. Osceola (11-1) – A goal line stand on the final play of overtime helped Kowboys get past Lakeland 35-28 on Friday night.

5. Apopka (8-4) – After losing to West Orange in the regular season, Blue Darters annihilated the Warriors 42-0 to advance to the region finals for the third straight season.  

6. Bishop Moore (12-0) – Hornets topped Merritt Island to reach the third round of the playoffs for the first time since 1970.

7. West Orange (11-1) – Best season in school history came to a crashing end as the Warriors got manhandled by Apopka 42-0 in the 8A region semifinals.

8. Lake Mary (11-1) – Rams suffered a repeat of 2013 as they were taken out by Jacksonville First Coast in the second round of the 8A playoffs.

9. Heritage (8-3) – Panthers upset Naples to earn a rematch with nationally ranked Miami Central, which hammered Heritage 54-3 last season.

10. Edgewater (8-4) – Eagles phenomenal turnaround season ended with a gut-wrenching last minute 30-28 loss to Mainland in 6A region semifinals.

11. South Sumter (11-1) – Raiders completed their third consecutive 10-0 regular season before falling to Live Oak Suwannee in the 5A region semifinals.

12. Oak Ridge (9-2) – Pioneers reached the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.

13. DeLand (7-4) – After starting the season 1-3, Bulldogs reached the 8A playoffs and put a scare into Jacksonville First Coast in a 34-19 defeat.

14. Oviedo (7-4) – Lions emerged from a crowded field to win 8A, District 3 before falling to Apopka 41-34 in the first round of the playoffs.   

15. Timber Creek (7-4) Jacques Patrick fell 29 yards shy of the Central Florida career rushing record as the Wolves fell to West Orange 42-21 in the regional quarterfinals.

16. Lake Nona (8-3) – Memorable performances from Tucker Israel and Deondre Farrier were not enough to knock off perennial power Lakeland in the 7A playoffs.

17. Merritt Island (9-3) – Mustangs reached the second round of the playoffs for the fifth consecutive season.

18. Viera (9-1) – Storybook season for the Hawks came to a screeching halt with a shocking 48-0 loss to Punta Gorda Charlotte in the 7A playoffs.

19. Wekiva (8-3) – First ever trip to the postseason ended with a 17-14 loss to undefeated Orange Park Oakleaf.

20. Orange City University (8-2) – Titans were one of two teams in the state to go 8-2 and not advance to the postseason.
