November 18th (Final 2014 rankings)

1.      Winter Springs (28-4) – Bears lost 3-1 to St. Thomas Aquinas in the 7A state championship. Kim Vach will return all but one graduating senior to the roster in 2015, including outside hitter Peyton Caffrey, middle Bailey Johnson and setter Jenna Smith.

2.       Bishop Moore (21-9) – Rebuilding year for head coach Tanya Jarvis ended in the region finals against eventual champion P.K. Yonge.

3.       Oviedo (19-8) – Half of the Lions’ losses came to #1 Winter Springs, including a 7A region semifinal defeat.

4.         Orange City University (20-7) – Titans had and up and down regular season, but thanks to the senior leadership of Rachel Harty (Campbell), Jenna Talbert (Appalachian St), Jordan Hefner (High Point), Rick Martines’ crew put things together in the postseason, and made the first final four appearance in school history.

5.       Lake Nona (22-3) – Heather Hansen’s Lions had a banner season behind junior outside hitter Mikayla Shields (South Carolina commit), and senior Gabriela Martin (FAU commit), advancing to the 7A region finals.

6.         Boone (25-5) – Braves season came to end with a loss to Orange City University in the 8A region finals.

7.         West Orange (20-7) – Took district championship from Apopka, and beat Dr. Phillips in 8A playoffs before falling in region semis.

8.         Merritt Island (17-6) – Angie Patricks’ Mustangs made it all the way to the 5A title game, but will lose outside hitter Skylar Lierse and libero Rachel Petkosh (UT Chattanooga) to graduation.

9.         First Academy (16-9) – Royals missed making the state finals for the first time in seven seasons.

10.       Hagerty (19-7) – Huskies won the title in the area’s most competitive district, while four of their losses came to teams ranked in the top 3.
