Football returns to Seminole County.

Several teams, including the Class 8A, District 2 champion Lake Mary Rams, hit the practice field Thursday for the first day of spring. The Rams are ready to build on last season’s success where they finished off a perfect regular season before falling to Jacksonville First Coast in region semifinals.

Despite graduating 32 seniors, there are still some skilled playmakers returning for head coach Scott Perry including QB Cannon Thompson, WR Nick Westbrook, RB/WR Charles Lamar and DB Julius Washington, who will now line up on offense as well.

The Rams will have experience in the trenches, but Perry said they’ll look to develop depth at linebacker.

Lake Mary will play Hagerty on May 16 for their spring jamboree as a part of a doubleheader hosted by Oviedo High.
