Time and again on Wednesday night, during the District 8 championship match, No. 3 Seminole tried to get its normally high-powered offense going.

And, time and again, the Seminoles ran into No. 2 Lake Mary’s 6’5 wall that is Chandler Harrison.

Harrison, the junior goalie for the Rams, racked up 13 saves in leading a suffocating defense that held Seminole to its lowest scoring output of the season as Lake Mary cruised to a 10-2 win and berth in the FHSAA State Playoffs.

“We just played our game [on defense] — we played the way our coach taught us,” Harrison said. “We just executed.”

It was the fifth-consecutive district title for the Rams (14-4) and the fourth for the program’s seniors — but Wednesday’s big win was all about the junior in front of the net.

“Obviously we have a very good goalie — I think he’s as good as anybody in the state,” Lake Mary coach Garrick Robinson said. “These guys [Seminole] score a lot of points. To hold them to two goals is an incredible defensive effort.”

Offensively, the Rams were led by Josh Marmetschke’s three goals along with a pair of goals each from Alec Quint and Kurt Sisco.

Seminole, which advanced to the District 8 final for a second consecutive season, finished the season 10-4.

Lake Mary will now advance to the state tournament’s first round play-in game on Tuesday. And while the Rams are now stranger to the playoffs and have their sights set on bigger prizes, that doesn’t mean Robinson’s club didn’t appreciate the significance of another district title — especially against an impressive Seminole team.

“This means so much to me [and] so much more to the seniors,” Harrison said. “This is going to be their last time playing Seminole, their last district championship — it just means so much to the whole team.”
