Lake Mary wide receiver Nick Westbrook has been named the Bright House Sports Network Athlete of the Week.

All season long, Lake Mary’s Nick Westbrook, the school’s all-time leading receiver has been a marked man, but the senior has still managed to rack up over 1200 yards and 13 touchdowns.

“He runs great routes," says Lake Mary head coach Scott Perry. "He has deceptive speed and he’s 6’4” he’s got a tall body and he can reach up there and his hands are real good hands.”

Those good hands have helped the 4th ranked Rams to an unbeaten 8-0 record, but the attention the Indiana commit draws from opposing defenses allows the rest of the Lake Mary offense to flourish.

”I feel like we have more threats this year in the passing game," says Westbrook. "A.J. Edwards, Alex Tichonoff, and the guys really open the field up, they can’t just focus on me because you have to guard them.”

Last week, Westbrook torched Spruce Creek for 292 yards and 4 touchdowns both single game records.

“Yeah, after the game when I was getting an interview some guy told me my stats and I was like it kind of shocked me I couldn’t even answer the questions, I was so shocked about what I did,” says Westbrook.

Perry knew Westbrook was in the zone. “I was thinking keep throwing it to him. He’s doing good things and Cannon was putting the ball in good places, and Nick was able to make the catches.”

“I mean it seemed like a normal game, it’s just business as usual," explains Westbrook. "I mean I realize I had a couple of touchdowns, but it didn’t feel like anything important.”
