The Merritt Island Mustangs shut out the 13th ranked Palm Bay Pirates 31-0 in 5A-district-12 football action on Friday night.

Senior defensive back Tucker Bennett had two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown for the Mustangs (6-2) who clinch the top spot in the district.

Merritt Island, which blocked two punts, dominated the game in all three phases. Senior running back Ashton Taylor busted a 50 yard touchdown run to open the scoring in the second quarter, as the Mustangs built a 14-0 halftime lead.

Pitt commit Sekai Lindsay rushed for 166 yards in defeat for the Pirates (5-2).
