While people were running around and trying to prepare for Tropical Storm Colin, a Flagler County alligator was taking a leisurely stroll in Palm Coast.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene when an alligator was spotted near some bushes around 9:20 a.m., Monday, at the intersection of Cypress Point Parkway and Cypress Edge Drive, officials stated.

The more than five-foot-long gator eventually made his way to the crosswalk and “scampered” across the entire roadway.

Two officers, Cpl. Kenny Goncalves and Deputy Jonathon Duenas, stopped traffic to allow the scaly traveler to cross, which took about 30 seconds.

“He just walked in the crosswalk like it was normal,” Goncalves said.

In fact, the radical reptile was too fast for officials.  A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission trapper was called in, but before the trapper could even arrive at the crosswalk, the Palm Coast alligator made his way to a wooded lot.
