An 18 year old allegedly stole a car and ran from the police crashed into a house, Daytona Beach Police stated in a report.

Wayne Johnson, 18, of Daytona Beach, allegedly was driving a stolen 2001 Lincoln LS without its headlights on along Maplewood Drive at around 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday, according to a police report.

A Daytona Beach police officer tried to conduct a traffic stop, authorities stated.

When Johnson refused to stop and kept going down various streets, where at one point he allegedly ran a stop light, police said. That is when the officer turned his lights and sirens on, but Johnson allegedly did not stop and drove off at a high rate of speed.

According to the police report, the officer decided to stop chasing Johnson, but he eventually found the Lincoln crashed inside a house on 550 Tomoka Rd.

Johnson allegedly tried to run away, but the officer was able to put him in custody, according to the report.

A tenant of the house, Toni Graves, suffered minor injuries and was treated by emergency services at the scene. But she and the owner of the house, Juliette Massey, stated that they wanted to press charges against Johnson.

The car was badly damaged and had to be towed away, the police report stated.

Police located the owner of the car and he stated that he last saw his vehicle in his driveway, at 117 Maplewood Drive, at 1 a.m. Johnson allegedly told officers he saw the keys to the car on the street.

James Kotowicz, the owner of the car, told officers he will be pressing charges against Johnson.

According to the police report, Johnson stated that he was sorry for what happened and he was afraid to be pulled over. Police discovered that he had a suspended driver’s license.

Johnson has been charged with refusing to stop and fleeing the scene of an accident, grand theft auto and leaving the scene of a crash that involved damage.

The police report did not state if Johnson had an attorney.
