  • Two 13-year-olds had minor injuries

Antoine Gardner 32, of Elizabeth, N.J., died in the crash, which happened just after 9 a.m. at mile marker 214 in Osceola County.

Troopers say Gardner was driving a 2003 GMC SUV, heading north in the inside lane, when it drifted into the grass median. Gardner overcorrected and the SUV overturned several times, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Three passengers, all of Columbus, Georgia, were hurt: Jessica Russ, 24, was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center in serious condition; Kahlil Herbert and LaQuanjai Chiles, both 13, were taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children with minor injuries.

Russ was not wearing a seat belt, but the teens were, troopers said.

The crash is under investigation.
