  • Unclear whether man walked or fell into the moving train
  • Police say no foul play suggested at this time

Holly Hill Police responded at about 4:07 a.m. to the Florida East Coast Railway train tracks at 8th Street.

A man was struck by the train and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

It's unclear whether the man walked or fell into the side of the moving train. A witness at the scene couldn't make the determination, police said.

According to police, the man walked across the crossing arms. FEC officials said the train was traveling north at about 48 mph.

"There is no foul play suggested at this time," Holly Hill Deputy Chief Jeffrey Miller said in a statement. "This investigation has not determined the actual manner of death — accident or suicide. The Medical Examiner is performing an autopsy to determine if there was any contributing health factors."
