Brevard County Sheriff's deputies are reporting they have recovered the body of a man who drowned near Melbourne Beach on Sunday.
Lifeguards and deputies began searching for a missing swimmer between 5 and 5:30 p.m. at Spessard Holland North Beach Park along A1A. Around 6:30 p.m. officials found the victim.
The body recovered was that of a male in his early 20s. He was pronounced dead after responders attempted CPR to resuscitate him.
The Brevard County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation into how the incident occurred.
In an unrelated incident, another person was taken to the hospital after being pulled from the water in the same general vicinity. No other information about the second person has been released.
