Two people escaped what appeared to be a dangerous situation after a dump truck flipped over onto a vehicle Monday morning in Orange County, police said.

  • Dump truck tipped over onto side, crushing Kia
  • Kia driver initially faulted, but police later said truck driver at fault
  • Minor injuries reported, per Winter Garden Police

The crash happened after 6 a.m. near the intersection of Winter Garden Vineland Road and Stoneybrook West Parkway.

Winter Garden Police said the woman inside the car suffered minor injuries after the dump truck hauling dirt flipped onto its side, crushing her Kia sedan.

The woman was taken to Florida Hospital Winter Garden and has been released.

Police initially said the Kia driver was at fault but after further investigation determined that the dump truck driver was at fault in the crash. They said the truck was in the left-turn-only lane, but the driver decided to go straight, while the Sorrento was in a turn and/or straight lane.

The driver of the truck was said to be OK except for minor shoulder pain, police said.

Winter Garden Vineland Road was closed for about an hour, but all lanes have reopened.
