A voluntary recall of sunflower kernel products has been expanded over potential listeria contamination.

  • Sunflower kernel products recalled over possible listeria contamination
  • Papa John's Salad and Produce also recalling salad product

The recall covers Planters and Sunrich Naturals Sunflower Kernels made between Feb. 1 and April 1. The sunflower kernels were produced by Minnesota-based company SunOpta.

Separately, Papa John's Salad and Produce, Inc. has voluntarily recalled its Oriental Salad with Sesame Ginger Dressing with sell-by dates of May 18 through 25.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious infection of the gastrointestinal tract.

No illnesses have been confirmed to be related to consuming the products, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.

Consumers are urged not to eat these products, but return them to the store for a refund or throw them away. Email contactus@sunopta.com or call 1-888-886-4428 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT to reach SunOpta.
