A man is dead after Volusia County authorities believe he was hit by a car and dragged several feet early Saturday morning.

  • Victim found at about 5 a.m. Saturday
  • Police say victim did not have ID, believed to be 30 years old

DeLand Police say they found the man at about 5 a.m. near the intersection of N. Clara Avenue and W. Michigan Avenue.
 
‪Investigators report the man was likely hit by a car and dragged 50 to 60 feet, but the cause of death is still under investigation.
 
‪"It’s awful," said resident Amy Jones, who lives near the intersection. "I hope they find whoever did it and that person’s family can get closure.”
 
‪Police say the victim did not have any identification, but is believed to be about 30 years old.
