A Palm Coast caregiver charged with exploiting an elderly client was arrested again after she allegedly pressured the victim to drop the charges, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.

Michelle Laureano, 29, faces an additional charge of tampering with a witness and was rearrested Thursday afternoon.

According to deputies, shortly after being released from jail Thursday, Laureano went to the victim’s home pleading with her to drop the charges. Laureano allegedly offered to reimburse the victim and give her $500 dollars if the charges were dropped, deputies said.

Laureano was originally arrested Wednesday and charged with exploitation after deputies say she racked up $1,600 in charges to the elderly woman’s credit card.
