An Orlando nonprofit group is trying to promote environmentalism with the latest fashion trends by turning trash into fashion.

Keep Orlando Beautiful held its third annual Trash to Trends fashion show at SeaWorld Orlando's Ports of Call Saturday.

Designers used shopping bags, wire hangers, yoga mats, tissue paper and motorcycle inner tubes to create their designs.

Fashion designer Debbie Kembroreaney was one of 33 designers who participated in the show. Each designer got one look.

It took four months for Kembroreaney to create hers, a post-modern 1950s housewife look.

“I grew up very poor, so I made my stuff out of anything I could find," Kembroreaney said.

“We want people just to be aware of what they throw away, what can be reused and just reducing our waste,” said Jody Buyas with Keep Orlando Beautiful. “Some of our designers come from the theme parks. We have UCF, we have Rollins and a huge art district here in Orlando, so it really works well here,” Buyas said.

This year’s show was a success. People can expect to see more creative, innovative wearable looks heading down a green carpet runway in 2017.
