Winter Springs High School band to perform in London

The Winter Springs High School Band of Gold will be heading over the Atlantic Ocean to perform in London.

Lord Mayor in Locum Tenens Councillor Robert Davis on Monday formally presented the band with the official invitation to participate in the 2017 London New Year's Day Parade.

"We are honored and delighted to be selected for the London New Year's Day Parade," said Adam McIntyre, the band director. "We are excited to represent our school and community on an international level."

The band students will perform in the 2.2-mile historic parade with more than 10,000 performers from around the world.

The WSHS Band Booster Association, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, is raising funds for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity through community donations, business sponsorships and fundraisers.
