A woman shot and killed her husband following an argument Wednesday afternoon in the Hammock area of unincorporated Flagler County, deputies said.

Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies responded around 4:39 p.m. to a home at 132 Sanchez Ave. after a woman, later identified as Anna Pehota, called 911 seven minutes earlier to say she believed she shot and killed her husband.

Deputies arrived to the scene and found John S. Pehota, 77, shot to death in the couple's trailer.

Deputies secured Anna Pehota without incident and took her to the agency's Investigative Services Division for questioning. Flagler County Fire Rescue personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. A firearm believed to have been used to commit the murder was recovered by crime scene investigators inside the trailer.

Anna Pehota, 75, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in her husband's shooting death and is being held at the Flagler County jail without bond.

The Pehota home has been the source of repeated calls for service since 2011, but none of the calls were violent in nature, deputies said. The most recent call was in July.

Flagler County investigators said this was the first documented murder in the county this year.
