After a week-long investigation, a 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged in the Ocala nightclub shooting that killed a 19-year-old college student.

Laquan Ria'Mel Barrow was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree murder in the death of Benetria Robinson.

Barrow has also been charged with attempted second-degree murder. He was located at 5465 S.E. 30th Place in Ocala. He was taken into custody by members of the Marion County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshal's Service.

The deadly shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Cloud 9 Club located at 1910 S. Pine Ave.

Marion County Sheriff's Office deputies and Ocala Police Department officers responded to the scene and found six people with gunshot injuries in the parking lot of the club.

Robinson, a student at Palm Beach State College, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other five people who were shot were transported to area hospitals.

Detectives said Barrow has already retained an attorney and didn’t provide any further statements after he was arrested.

He's being held at the Marion County Jail without bond.

"This type of lawless activity will not be tolerated in Marion County, and our citizens can rest assured that we will not rest until all the individuals who took part in this heinous act are brought to justice," Marion County Sheriff Chris Blair said in a statement.

The investigation is ongoing.
