Here's what you need to know for Central Florida's weather for the rest of the week:

  • More hot temperatures with highs in the 90s
  • Typical summertime pattern resumes, with 40–50 percent chance of rain
  • Tropical Storm Fred is no threat to the U.S.

Overnight, we become clear to partly cloudy with a muggy low in the mid-70s.

We may see a few more storms fire up Thursday afternoon, and have a 40 percent chance of rain. This is in response to a gradual breakdown of the ridge of high pressure responsible for the past couple quiet & hot days we’ve experienced. Highs will once again climb into the low to mid 90s, with a heat index above 100 both Thursday & Friday.

As a trough digs out across the eastern U.S., our rain chances will bump up to 50 percent from Friday through the holiday weekend, thanks to sea breeze collisions. The best chances for rain will be in the mid to late afternoon hours, wrapping up around sunset. More seasonable highs in the low 90s are in the cards for us.

Fred is falling apart in the eastern Atlantic, as he encounters stronger wind shear and cooler sea surface temperatures. He will dissolve into a sub-tropical feature soon. Yesterday’s tropical wave dissipated, with no tropical development expected in the next 5 days.
