The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office has a new member of the K-9 unit.

Rexo, a 21-month-old German Shepherd, began his training at the end of July and is expected to be in full service to the community by the end of the year.

He will be trained in tracking, article searches, narcotics detection, building searches and apprehensions.

The Sheriff’s Office says Rexo was generously acquired by Ms. Cheryl Chandler Laws in memory of her late father, Lt. William Chandler, who served with the agency.

Rexo will live with, and be assigned to, Deputy Brian Welch.
