Here's what you need to know for Central Florida's weather on Tuesday and for the rest of the week:

  • 30–40% chance of storms Tuesday, highs in low to mid-90s
  • Rain chances increase starting Wednesday
  • Tropics still active, Erika could be named in the next day or two

Overnight will remain muggy, with temperatures falling into the mid-70s by sunrise. Clouds will slowly erode, so expect more sun to start off Tuesday.

Tuesday will be very much like Monday, as our south to southwest flow continues. Highs will top the low to mid-90s, with a 30–40 percent chance of storms. A front dropping into northern Florida by midweek will draw up more moisture and eventually turn our wind around to the southeast.

We've increased rain chances up to around 50–60 percent from Wednesday into the upcoming weekend. Locally heavy downpours and frequent lightning will be the main threats as storms develop, with a few strong wind gusts possible, too. Highs remain slightly above seasonable levels, in the lower 90s.

While Danny has weakened to only a weak tropical wave, we’re monitoring another stronger tropical wave just behind the remnants of Danny. It looks like we will have a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, and quite possibly a storm named Erika by Tuesday or Wednesday. This system is moving westward at 20 mph. Another wave near the Cape Verde Islands is running a low chance of becoming something tropical in the next 5 days, but is also being closely watched.
