A family is asking for justice in the death of a 56-year-old man was found shot in his driveway around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in Longwood.

Shahidul Miah was found in the driveway at 767 E. Warren Ave. with a single gunshot wound to his upper-torso. The Longwood Fire Department responded to the scene, but firefighters weren't able to revive the man.

“I saw him lying on the floor next to the car, and my stepmother was holding him,” said Tonmoy Miah, the victim’s son.

Miah’s family is also asking how someone could so senselessly take their loved one’s life.

“A person should not be dying like that. My dad is a middle-class hardworking guy, and just parks his car here and gets shot,” said Trina Miah, the victim’s daughter.

Longwood Police said when Miah pulled into the driveway of his Longwood home Wednesday night, he got out of his car and was then shot once in the chest. The 56-year-old died in his driveway.

Miah’s family believes the shooter followed Miah home from his convenience store. Miah owned the Kwik Mart in Apopka.

“He was just a guy who goes to work in the morning and then comes home. He has no enemies, it’s not like that. Somebody just wanted something from him, we don’t know,” said Trina Miah.

“Everybody loved him. All these customers came to him because they trusted him,” said Tonmoy Miah.

Miah leaves behind three children, including a two-year-old son. His oldest son said his father helped him get his degree at UCF. Now, he’s hoping police can catch his father’s killer.

“Just find the killer for us. We want justice, that’s what we want,” said Tonmoy Miah.

Longwood Police are asking anyone with information related to this case to contact Detective Brad Tollas at (407) 260-3416 or btollas@longwoodfl.org.
