While we're all in the midst of Independence Day celebrations, Orange County Animal Services and Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando both hope you'll consider giving freedom to a dog or cat at a shelter.

This weekend, dogs are $17.76 at Pet Alliance's Orlando and Sanford Shelters. Meanwhile Cats and kittens are only $4.

The shelters closed at 4 p.m. Saturday but they re-open Sunday from Noon until 4 p.m.

The Orlando shelter is on Westgate Drive off Conroy Road, across from Mall at Millenia.

The Sanford shelter is on County Home Road off 17-92, near Flea World.

You can check out the adoptable dogs and cats on the Pet Alliance website.

Meanwhile, Orange County Animal Services in Orlando is hosting a $17.76 adoption event of its own. All pets are $17.76 from now through July 7 at the shelter on Wesgate Drive off Conroy Road, across from Mall at Millenia.

The adoption fees include sterilization, vaccines and a microchip.

Meanwhile, all this month Orange County Animal Services is hosting a Military Family Appreciation Monday. Adoption fees are free for military families. All you need is a Military ID or a copy of a DD Form 214 with honorable discharge.
