A Palm Bay woman is being held without bail after police say she murdered her mother.
Lisa Leikvold, 58, was arrested by Melbourne police Thursday and charged with premeditated first-degree murder.
Investigators say a 911 call was received at 11 p.m. Wednesday stating a murder had just taken place at a home on Harbor View Drive in Melbourne.
When officers arrived, they found Laverne Hoffman on her back in her bedroom with a large kitchen knife in her chest. Police said Leikvold was sitting on a couch inside the home.
The Melbourne Police Department said Leikvold cooperated with officers and a family argument is what led to the murder.
