For Celina Yebba, serving others grew from an early age.

"My family actually came from Cuba, and this country and given so much to us that when I was a little girl, I knew that somehow I wanted to give back," she said.

After extensive community service in high school and college, Yebba joined the military and served in Afghanistan. During her first birthday home since deployment, she had comrades who were still overseas on her mind.

"Instead of gifts, if you just bring these items I'm going to list for you, we're going to send them to the Red Horse squadron that just replaced us so that way they have the right stuff," Yebba said. "So, that's what they did. Everyone brought tons. We ended up sending 13 boxes."

To celebrate the last year of her 20s, Yebba launched the My 52 Things Project.

Every week, she takes on a new adventure, including a "Dare Me For Charity," when she jumped off a three-story platform.

"I'm terrified of heights, and I jumped off this thing and the money that I jumped with went to the Wounded Warrior Project," she said.

She also donated blood platelets for the first time.

"I was really nervous about that," Yebba said. "I was freaking out, but the ladies who work there — the phlebotomists — were so sweet.”

Yebba has volunteered at the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, served meals at the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida and has worked with Special Olympics.

Yebba is now going for her master's degree while working at the University of Central Florida, but she is already thinking to her next adventure: 30 after 30.

Not every adventure Yebba goes on is for charity, but each one helps her shape the next step in her life.

"You can do these things, have these experiences, really grow from them and be helping someone else — and it's free," she said. "There (are) just countless opportunities to do that all over the state."
