A Kissimmee man has been arrested for fraud after deputies say he used a dead person’s personal information to write checks and obtain cash.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says detectives discovered information that a suspect named Pedro Maldonado, later identified as 58-year-old Baustista Bonet, Jr., was using a deceased person's personal information to write checks and obtain cash. Detectives confirmed the information being used by Bonet belonged to a person who died in June of this year.

Bonet was brought in for questioning and originally told detectives his name was Pedro Maldonado and that he wrote several fraudulent checks including paying for $1,196 for a tour bus and room at the Palm Lakefront Hotel.

Detectives also discovered that there was an active felony warrant for fraud for Bonet from Tennessee.

He told detectives he used his step-son's identity, Pedro Maldonado, to conceal his actions.

Bonet was arrested and charged with possession of personal identification of a deceased person, uttering forged/counterfeit bills and forgery/altering a public record and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
