An Oviedo man was killed and three others critically injured in a crash on I-4 in Polk County Monday afternoon.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the single-vehicle crash happened at 1:15 p.m. near the State Road 559 interchange in Polk City.

Troopers said the car, driven by 19-year-old Jacob. B. Johnson of Oviedo, was traveling west and struck a guardrail and traveled across all three lanes and onto the shoulder and collided with another guardrail.  The car then traveled up the grass embankment onto the shoulder to the SR-559 overpass, became airborne, and then collided with the concrete overpass support.

Johnson and two of his passengers, 20-year-old Nicholas Salomone of Lake Marion and 20-year-old Hanna Schagin, of Orlando were transported to Lakeland Regional Health.  A third passenger, 21-year-old Donald R. Johnson of Oviedo, was pronounced dead at the scene.
