A frightening pre-dawn attack in College Park has led an ongoing investigation for two suspects who battered an elderly woman as she walked the streets near her home.

Eleanor Trouse, 70, got out of her house for her usual stroll around the scenic lake Tuesday morning. A car slowly pulled up and the passenger jumped out and ran at her.

"He was too fast for me, I could not get away. And he grabbed me by my arm with such strength and might, and he threw me to the bricks," she said.

Her glasses broke, her nose was scraped and her shoulder pounded in pain, but the man pulled her back up again.

"I was petrified," she said.

Trouse feared he was going to sexually assault her. Instead, the man yelled out and demanded money.

She did the only thing she could.

"I started screaming, and I just kept screaming."

The suspect got back in the car, which then sped away. Trouse was able to get to a friend's house nearby, where she was watching the neighbor's dogs. She said that’s when she called police.

Trouse's knee was badly bruised. And her right shoulder, which the man pulled with such force, was seriously injured.

She is having surgery at Florida Hospital and faces several weeks of rehab.

The woman, who enjoyed her early morning walks, will no longer be doing them.

"I will never, ever be out there in the dark ever again," said Trouse.

Police said the two suspects are still out there. If you have any information about this attack, you can call Crime line at 1-800-423-TIPS.
