Police said they arrested an armed carjacker after they said the suspect crashed the stolen car on State Road 408 and tried to escape on foot Friday.

According to Orlando police, the victim was carjacked in a parking lot on the 4400 block of Semoran Boulevard, near Pershing Avenue, after the suspect approached the woman with a gun.

Police said officers spotted the stolen car and gave chase. The suspect eventually crashed on State Road 408, near Conway Road, and took off running.

Officers caught up with the suspect and arrested him. He was transported to the hospital, and police said he would be taken to jail upon his release.

The on-ramp to S.R. 408 at Conway Road was blocked for more than an hour as police investigated the scene and arrested the suspect, who was not immediately identified.
