Police have arrested a man seen with a gun near the gathering grounds for a Southern heritage pride rally last weekend. But he said he never fired the gun, let alone at the rally, and he's not a racist.

Sebastian Boswell was arrested Thursday on an unrelated outstanding warrant. Ocala Police believe he was the one seen carrying a shotgun in surveillance video at Ocala Place Apartments, near the Livestock Pavilion where the Southern heritage pride rally was being held last Sunday.

Ocala police met with Boswell Friday at Marion County Jail.

Boswell, however, told police a different story. In the arrest affidavit, he said there was some kind of street altercation going on between a cousin of his and another group at a story in the area.

Boswell told police he heard shots fired and thought his cousin may have been in trouble. He said he got a shotgun out of a car and covered it with a towel. He said the gun had no shells in it. He also told police a man named "OG Hit" took the gun away from him.

According to the arrest affidavit, Boswell said, "I never shot, love white people. I have a white 'baby mama.'" He also told them he is not a racist, but he was an inactive gang member.

Boswell was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
