A man spotted carrying away the Confederate flag, and shots were reportedly fired this past weekend in Marion County.

But it appears no one will be charged in either of the latest Marion County incidents in connection with the Confederate flag controversy.

Police said they have no way of knowing how the Confederate flag came down during protests.

It was seen here being carried by a man back to a Government building. People told News 13 it simply fell down in the wind.

Shots were reportedly fired near as many as 2,000 vehicles driving through town with Confederate flags. Police escorting the ride to keep the peace didn’t find anything.

“We didn’t find a shooter, we didn’t find a gun we didn’t find any spent casings anything like that for it,” said Sgt. Angy Scroble of the Ocala Police Department.

The Confederate flag is back up in Marion County. Police were hired over the weekend to make sure nothing happened to it. But petitioners are hoping Commissioners will reconsider last week's unanimous decision to fly it again as part of a historical display.
