A Rockledge teen is facing attempted murder charges after police said he set an officer's home on fire Saturday morning.

Rockledge Police said the 17-year-old teen, who we're not naming because of his age per our Crime Guidelines, set a security trailer on fire at McLarty Park around 3 a.m. Saturday.

The man lives there and he is also a member of the Rockledge Police Department.

Police said the teen used a propane tank to set the trailer on fire, but it hit a water line, which doused the flames.

Undeterred, police said the teen then torched the officer's marked patrol car and boat as well.

Investigators have not released the officer's name, but he was home at the time and was able to escape without any injuries.

The Sheriff's Office used bloodhounds to track down the teen, who was arrested at his home.

Nearby neighbors at the teen's home told News 13 they're having a hard time believing the teen could have committed the act of arson.

"From talking to him, what I've seen, I never pictured anything like this in a million years," said Daniel Shildt, a neighbor.

Rockledge police are charging the teen as a juvenile. The teen is facing attempted felony murder of a law enforcement officer, arson to an occupied dwelling, arson to a vehicle and criminal mischief. The teen will go before a judge on Monday.

Police are still investigating why the officer was targeted.
