Students at an Orlando high school are reacting to the news that one of their teachers allegedly had sex with an underage student.
Ethan Hickey, 25, of Orlando, was arrested around 5:30 p.m. Thursday and faces a slew of charges:
- Lewd or lascivious battery
- Lewd/lascivious molestation on a victim between the ages of 12 and 15
- Lewd lascivious behavior-conduct by a person 18 years old or older
- Sexual assault on a victim between the ages of 12 and 18 without physical force
- Child abuse
- Sexual conduct by a child
A note of encouragement from students sat at the base of the door to Hickey's apartment Sunday afternoon.
One of those notes reads, "We know you didn't do it, and wish you the best."
Hickey, a teacher at Edgewater High School, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old. He's currently on leave with pay while the school district conducts an internal investigation.
