Students at New Smyrna Beach High School will see police walking around campus Thursday as they arrive for class after a threat was discovered written on a wall at the school.

The threat, written in black marker, reads:

I'm gonna shoot up the school.
Wear blue on Thu 5-28-15

— Sky

The message was discovered in a restroom Tuesday and reported Wednesday morning to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said they did not immediately know how long the note was there, or who the "Sky" is who wrote it, but they are working to identify the author.

Security was heightened at the school after the note was discovered, but investigators said they don't believe there is a real danger to students.

Still, they said they are playing it safe.

To ease the concerns of parents, students and staff, the sheriff's office sent us the following statement Wednesday:

Our investigation hasn't revealed any activity corroborating the message or any information whatsoever indicating that this is a credible threat. Naturally, we're treating it seriously and taking all of the appropriate measures.

As a safety precaution, we'll have an added presence on campus tomorrow [Thursday] and also have also enlisted the assistance of the New Smyrna Beach Police Department as well.

New Smyrna Beach police confirmed they will have extra units on scene Thursday morning.
