Three schools in Deltona were locked down for over an hour Tuesday morning while Volusia County deputies searched for a burglary suspect in the area.

The lockdown on the following three schools was lifted shortly before noon:

  • Heritage Middle School
  • Pride Elementary School
  • Good Shepherd Academy

A fourth school in the area, Pine Ridge High School, monitored the situation but was not placed on lockdown, according to Volusia County school officials.

Deputies said the burglary happened around 9:20 a.m. at a home in the area of Courtland Boulevard and Howland Boulevard.

The suspect was seen running off into a wooded area.

Deputies took a man in custody shortly before noon, but later said that arrested was unrelated to the original burglary. The lockdown, however, was not reissued.
