More than 100 volunteers spent the weekend looking for an 82-year-old Clermont man who has been missing since Friday.

Salvatore Gambino left his home around 3 p.m. Friday with his electric wheelchair, a common practice for him, according to police.

The search continued until about 7:30 p.m. Monday, and it will resume again Tuesday morning.

Gambino is a white male about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, white baseball cap, green shorts and black sneakers. He is paralyzed on one side.

Gambino has brown eyes and a bald head with gray hair on the sides. His family said his mental faculties are intact, but he does get disoriented easily.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office and Clermont Fire Department have also been working to help find Gambino.

Dive teams, K-9 police dogs and search party groups searched within a five-mile radius of Grand Highway and Hunt Street, just west of the Citrus Tower.

Gambino's daughter, Josephine, said it is normal for him to leave the house with his wheelchair, but he always comes back.

"Right now, we are at the point we are getting a little bit anxious, because it has already been 48 hours," Josephine said Sunday. "We are staying hopeful, because we do want to find him. Either bad or good, we do want to find him."

If you see Salvatore Gambino, call 911.
